Its the big new Dell XPS 710. This is an Nvidia 590 board. Everything obvious works with Gutsy - including the motherboard fan speed control which is controlled electronically when it loads the proprietary video driver (it has an nvidia 8600 card, which has worked without issue including compiz and emerald etc as long as it uses the nvidia driver). Using an older version of Ubuntu worked, but the non-nvidia driver gave me complex behavior- so I was relieved that Gutsy loaded the proprietary driver. Open source open gl drivers being a complex topic.
Anyway, proprietary video driver works well and controls board fan speed on this machine.
This machine (at $1.4 k) has been a good benchmark and highly recommended.
Sound- only verified main two channels. Raid- I don't know if it can be made to work just using the board's setup- guide says to do the setup in the bios and then use the config software (windows) but its not clear if thats necessary.
